Ramside Hall is one of the most sought after wedding venues in County Durham, with a huge range of function suites available for ceremonies and receptions.
The Ramside Hall Hotel, Durham, County Durham, is one of Durhams most impressive wedding venues, set in 350 acres of private land that includes two eighteen hole golf courses and a driving range. Enough from me, but it is fair to say that Nev Chambers Photography loves being a wedding photographer at Ramside Hall, Durham. Lets hear from Becky and David who got married at Ramside September 2019.
Becky how did the proposal happen?
David and I were on holiday in Tenerife between Christmas and New Year. We went for a romantic walk along the beach and that’s where it happened. It was a total surprise when David asked me to marry him. On a beach under the stars on New Years Eve. I couldn’t wait to tell the world we were engaged.

Why did you pick the Ramside Hall Hotel, Durham for your wedding venue?
It is just the most beautiful venue. The grounds are gorgeous, with all the ancient trees, the stunning gardens and all the little details like the seating areas and water fountains. We had already booked Nev Chambers Photography to take our wedding photographs before we had booked Ramside, and when we told him the venue he assured us the pictures would be amazing.
Every member of staff at Ramside Hall was so friendly. They go above and beyond for everything and the wedding co-ordinators made things seem so effortless. The wedding planning was made so much easier thanks to their input and help.
What made you say yes to the dress? Where did you get it? How many did you try on first?

The lady I got it from has now closed down, I tried on 6 dresses of all different styles but as soon as I put it on I just knew! It’s nothing like I ever thought I’d wear and was a surprise to everyone.

I decided to break from the usual idea when it came to my shoes. Rather than having white shoes I went with the wedding colours and had bright fuchsia pink stilettos.

People still talk about them now. It also meant that after the wedding I could wear my shoes with other outfits.
Flowers, What did you choose?
Only my bouquet contained real flowers. I had fuchsia pink gerberas and white roses. There were made into a large poesy. They looked amazing! Also they weren’t too big so as not to distract from my dress and shoes, and also they were easy to hold. I didn’t want a massive teardrop wedding bouquet as they always look heavy and I thought they might get in the way.
Grooms suits, how did you choose colour and style?
David just wanted something simple and only wanted a shirt and waistcoat no jacket. So we went for classic black suit and a white shirt with a teal tie as our colour theme was teal and fuchsia. All the groomsmen were dressed the same which I think looked amazing on the wedding photos, especially the end of night shot Nev took of them!! We still laugh about that photo, it even made the album.
First dance, what song and why?
Ellie Goulding- Still falling for you, the words very much sum up our relationship and we both agreed on it we didn’t want a really slow song. Our first dance felt amazing. All the Children were sat along one edge of the dance floor watching us with the guests stood watching. I knew we were being watched but it felt like there was just David and I. Looking back at the photographs you can really see the fun we were having, and I think Nev also caught the moment perfectly.

Standout moments during the wedding day. What made you cry with joy and what made you laugh out loud?
Walking down the aisle was by far the most stand out moment I completely froze and burst into tears as I was so happy. Also the speeches, to hear what our friends and family had to say was amazing and really heartfelt. LOL moments, there were so many I can’t pinpoint one. We felt like we spent most of the day laughing. I remember Nev putting me at ease within minutes of him arriving by making me and all my bridal party laugh. In fact Nev had us laughing quite a lot during the day, with his one liners, stories and my favourite, the rhyme on how to hold your wedding bouquet!!

Advice for other brides and grooms for their wedding day.
Don’t worry about the little things because on the day you don’t even notice them. Take a moment for just the two of you. We planned it so we had an hour gap and had photos of just the two of us. The pictures were amazing and we didn’t even realise Nev was there. He had this strange ability to make us feel like there was only us two there whilst directing us how to stand for the photographs. When Nev suggested the three of us went to our room to get in the bath David and I burst out laughing. We trusted Nev even when he asked David and me to get in the bath. Once Nev had got the pic of us sat in the bath he disappeared allowing us some time together on our own. Try and do this yourselves. A little bit of time just the two of you as man and wife with no one else there. Take it all in because it comes and goes so quick, and trust your wedding photographer. They know what they are doing.

Favourite photograph and why?
My husband and I with the sunset it just sums up the love we have for each other... but to be fair all the pics are amazing.
Thoughts on your album?
💯 % Amazing! It literally couldn’t be any better and Nev managed to get every pic I wanted plus so many more. The design and quality is stunning. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t anywhere near as superior as what we received. Wedding Collections by Nev Chambers Photography.
