I have photographed weddings up and down the East Coast. From Hull to the north of Whitby, I have also worked at inland venues. I have taken photos with brides and grooms on the beach and on top of cliffs. One bride even went in the sea in her wedding dress.
Scarborough is home to a 3,000 year old castle, two stunning beaches, a lighthouse, amazing forestry and lots of amazing architecture.
Due to Scarborough being one of England’s oldest seaside towns, it has abundance of hotels, guest houses and B&Bs.

Scarborough, North Yorkshire, is surrounded by stunning stately homes. Examples include Wrea Head Hall and Sewerby Hall. Wrea Head Hall is a Gothic mansion built in 1881. It retains original features, from stained glass windows to large fireplaces. The owners have modernised the hall to suit contemporary weddings. This combination of history and modern facilities makes it a sought-after venue for a wedding or engagement.
It is a perfect location for a wedding. It suits engagements or a luxury stay near Scarborough. Sewerby Hall also offers a similar ambience for visitors. The surrounding area includes coastal towns and cliff-top views. Together, these venues create a memorable experience for couples.

Sewerby Hall is not only an amazing Georgian Manor House built in 1714, but is part museum and part zoo!! It sits on top of headland between Scarborough and the nearby seaside town of Bridlington. So when it comes to wedding photography options you really are spoilt for choice. As your wedding photographer I would capture unique, classy and amazing images from wild landscapes, to maybe a meerkat in the background! Either way you can be assured your wedding day photographs would be something to treasure.
Another benefit of Scarborough as a wedding venue is the stunning sunsets and sunrises. Brides and Grooms often want photographs on their wedding day on the beach and when time allows a quick shot at sunset always ends up in the wedding album.
Hackness Grange, is one of Scarborough’s most popular wedding venues. It is a 19th century Manor House set on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, and only a few miles from Scarborough, meaning that the wedding day photography options are endless.
A little bit further North from Scarborough is Grand Villa Heights, sitting on the cliff edge between Scarborough and Whitby, overlooking Robin Hoods Bay. The hotel (or parts of it) date back to 1774. The Hall has castle walls looking out to sea and fabulous grounds for your guests to explore. Sunsets at Ravenhall are truly something to behold, even if it rains.
A little farther afield from Scarborough is the East Yorkshire town of Driffield. Driffield is home to one of the area’s newest wedding venues, Highfield House. Built in 1864 and reimagined in 2022 by international design duo Andy and Lindsey Lampard, this country manor offers guest accommodation, a fine dining restaurant, and is available for exclusive hire.

Due to its central location on the East Coast of Yorkshire, Scarborough gives great access to Whitby, Malton, Pickering and Bridlington. The ancient walled City of York is also close by offering a large number of wedding venues including the incredible Hazelwood Castle that is mentioned in the doomsday book and has been visited by a number of members of the British Royal Family.
